Friday Night Fights: “Double Dose!”- Prize Fight: Escher Guy!

Welcome to the special Friday Night Fights: Double Dose Prize Fight! Our host has given us one special rule for this fight: It must be a fight where something is doubled up. (Ex. Double Initialed Characters, Double Punches, Punching a Double, etc.)

For tonight's fight I'm opting for......Double Green!

What does that mean? It means that my fight will feature a team-up of two green-attired heroes who also both have "Green" in their codenames. But which two? Here's a subtle hint: Tonight's emerald embroglio comes to us from Green Lantern/Green Arrow#91, written by Denny O'Neil and illustrated by recurring FNF fave Mike Grell.

Synopsis: Green Arrow is escaping from a deadly trap Sinestro had lured him into. Sinestro is about to have him killed when Green Lantern flies in and saves Ollie's life. But Hal had just finished flying through an intense hydrogen storm en route to Earth and is nearly exhausted. Which doesn't bode well for his showdown with his arch-nemesis.

So Hal's screwed, right?

WRONG!

I did mention there were two green-themed heroes tonight, right?

Ok, remember how I commented on a post a few months back about Mike Grell's early tendency to occasionally show kayoed villains' backs contorting into painful positions?

Well, here's another one.

OUCH! Unless Korugarian spines are much more flexible than their Earth counterparts, Sinestro's going to be ringing up a back brace and a chiropractor the next morning!

Hey, Ami! Can we count this as my Escher Girls submission? Even if it's a guy?

In honor of our Emerald Archer's above lesson in gravity, tonight's fight music will be this appropriately-titled tune from The Alan Parsons Project.

I...I don't think that spines bend like that! Still, it is nice to see Ollie saving Hal.

But GEEZ, that looks painful!
